There are times when existing marketing efforts just do not work and it is in this grey area of the marketing mix that we specialize. We have two main functions at Misc. Marketing. First, we assess where your current marketing efforts are failing and look for ways to improve them. Unfortunately there are times when existing marketing channels do not get the required results - no matter how finely you tune them. This is where our second function lies; we build new media channels with effectiveness and measurability in mind. Example- How Qcard came to be:Having spoken with many businesses that target the 21 to 35 year old market in Boston we have found that they are limited to where they could advertise in order to create awareness. A common finding was that TV and radio advertising was expensive and, with the fragmented audience, not very effective. This limited them to print advertising. Boston has a large number of free weekly publications targeting the student and young professional population of Boston but they all suffer from the same problems.Display advertising may create awareness but it this does not always guarantee results as many businesses who were advertising were getting little or no response. This was happening for a number of reasons: readers skipping advert in favor of editorial content, wastage in distribution, no way of tracking response, short duration of advert and the advert not offering a real incentive for visiting the location. We have developed the Qcard with these problems in mind paired with the fact that consumers are looking for more for their money due to the economic conditions we face today. Benefit and Discount cards can be found in nearly every major European city and we are positive their success their will transfer to the US. |
